The unofficial results, according to KWQC, are as follows:
- Charlie Brooke, 10564 votes (59%)
- Niky Bowles, 5208 votes (28%)
- Bob Swanson (write-in), 2359 votes (13%)
I think that qualifies as a landslide, more than double the votes of the second place candidate, and close to 60% of the vote total.
When I visited IA this summer, they were passing around petitions to put a library levy on the ballot--a little extra property tax ($27 per $100K, if I remember correctly)--in order to fund the construction of two new branch libraries. In a much more hotly contested vote, the levy passed by a 51 to 49 percent margin. My mom's on the library board, so I know that the whole Brooke clan will be celebrating the outcomes of tonight's votes...
I know it's not polite to gloat, so pardon me while I sign off for tonight...
Update: Here's the Quad-City Times coverage of the story. Congrats, Dad!

Congrats to your dad!
The legacy continues.
