I'd be interested in seeing a cloud of citations -- people whose names were cited in CCCC proposals -- then how that changes from year to year. (Not that I'd ask you to do it, though: too much trouble.)
Yeah, it'd be tough to pull that off easily, short of going in and reading every single abstract. I suppose you could get a script to pull all capitalized words, and work from there, but even then, it'd be a lot of junk work...
And then you'd run up against the different approaches to the genre, some of which are citation-heavy, some more thesis driven...
