I'm having symptoms of blog withdrawal. I have the shakes. I am getting manic about checking the server status every five minutes. I've even hijacked a few blogs just to get that "high" from posting my rambles. What does this mean? I'm addicted. Once you get used to the experience of having an outlet for your rambles, your misdirected thoughts, your pointless observations, you can't just bottle them all back inside! Can't be done. It's like trying to squeeze the toothpaste back into the tube.
I've tried doing what I call "F2F blogging" as a substitute. This involves me turning to someone next to me and "blogging" right to their face. (It's not conversation. It's "blogging." I leave some time at the end for the person to insert a "comment" and everything.) My first instance of F2F blogging went like this:
Me (turning to stranger on the bus): The thing about this mad cow scare is that nobody mentions the "karmic" issues involved. Is it too mystical? Why doesn't anyone consider the fact that it's ethically wrong to force other living beings into an unnatural way-of-being? And then when we do, should we really be surprised that there's hell to pay? Cruelty to others sows karmic energies.
Stanger: (shifts uncomfortably, looks for the exit)
Me: In all these commentaries, I haven't heard one person mention animal ethics. Makes me sick.
Stranger: (silence)
Me: Do you want to leave a comment?
As you can imagine, this is hardly a substitute. I don't recommend F2F blogging. It's not that great. So. . . until our server comes back up, I really appreciate Collin letting me crash here.

I think that this may be my new conversational gambit:
I'll go on and on about something that I know my audience doesn't care much about (this is not the "new" part of the gambit, btw), and then, five minutes later, I'll ask, "Do you want to leave a comment?"
Genius. Pure genius.
