So this is what I did last night:
I know it's been done to death out here in the blogosphere, but part of my new year's resolution is self-inventory (with the understanding that it will lead to positive change), and so I decided yesterday to play the 100 Things About Me game, and you'll find the results here, or from the link over in the sidebar.
What did I learn? 100 is a big number when it comes to generating information about yourself. A little surprisingly, though, it wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it might be. Some of the lists I've seen are pretty minimalist, where a body's ten favorite movies each deserve their own numbers, for example. None of that here, of course. Item #101 may be the fact that I'm rarely content to use a few words where a paragraph will do, but that's my style. I don't think anyone will complain too loudly.
It was also interesting to me how easy it was to generate 100 things without feeling like I'd really gotten beyond the tip of the iceberg. A few years back, I did a CCCC presentation, and as part of the preparation for that, Geoff Sirc and I wrote maxims, bumper sticker prose, and after a while, writing that way carried its own momentum--it got easier and easier. Same thing happened here--it got easier and easier to do as I went along. And there was still a lot more I could have said.
