My name's Collin Brooke, and I've approved the following message:
One of the things that's quite different about Iowa at this time of year, other than the relative absence of snow, is the number of political ads on TV. Living in NY, I'd forgotten about the old Iowa Caucus, the full frontal assault by Presidential hopefuls. We're getting a lot of Dean, Gephardt, and Kerry, and a little bit of Edwards coming across the local television stations and newspapers.
Not that I'm paying too much attention yet. But the one thing that strikes me as bizarre is the whole "I have approved this message" nonsense. I hear tell that it's new federal regulation that requires candidates to directly approve campaign ads, but geez. It sounds dumb as a stump to hear Dick Gephardt say something and then have to say that he's approved what he's just said. Are we sure that this isn't some strategy to make the Dems look dopey? Cuz if so, it's working.
