See, not even widespread power outtages from New York City to Chicago can keep me from attending to my brand new weblog!
I heard earlier today that Fox News (rapidly approaching oxymoronic status, that) decided to continue with their "incite panic first, answer questions later" approach by announcing from the start that the blackout was the result of terrorism, at least until they were proven wrong. Good for them--it's about time someone brought a much-needed dose of misguided inaccuracy to those rampant attempts at objectivity (*attempts*) that pass for news coverage these days.
On the home front, despite non-stop local coverage, the blackout has been more of a non-event. I spent the afternoon in four different locales in different parts of the city, and found no evidence of power loss, except, ironically, in the dramatic tone adopted by our "eyewitness" reporters, whose "news" (of when power would be restored) was only accessible to people with power. One station covered the hell out of a two-car traffic accident caused by two morons who decided that, if the stop light was off, it meant that they could throw caution to the wind.
Oh, the drama.
